Hi friends,
I have a laptop that doesnīt has RS232 serial port, so, i bought a PCMCIA card to give me a physical RS232 port.
My computer identified the card and no drivers problem..everything perfect in the devices manager. The problem is that when i initialize INPA, itīs doesnīt communicate (itīs appear the same when the card is not connected).
There is any special configuration necessary to proceed it? Somebody got sucess in this?
Really thank you in advance for any help,
Matheus

What cable do you have? Are u using a carsoft or ediabas cable? If using a carsoft cable you will need to start carsoft to initialize the cable. If using an ediabas cable make sure u have the serial port set to COM1. Also, have you changed your FIFO Buffers to 8?

Hi friend.
Iīm using the ENDIABAS cable, and ADS interface..
I already seted to COM1 and IRQ 4 (by manual config, when i select automatic config, itīs back to IRQ 7).
The FIFO control was disabled, so i enabled and i was put 8 buffer to go and back transmission. But itīs appears that didnīt change nothing, because i open the INPA and no difference.
I think i will need install INPA software again to identify the port.. i donīt know..

You need to have the ODB.ini file in c:/windows folder configured with com port 1. Also i would test your rs232 port to make sure it is working properly.

You might have to go in to Windows Device Manager and change the settings for the serial port. In most cards you can change the baud rate and other data settings. Im using this serial RS232 PCMCIA card (http://www.usconverters.com/index.php?main_page=product_reviews_info&products_id=251&reviews_id=85) where I have to manually change the baud rate so it match the settings of the RS232 cable.
