Ive been pondering this for awhile now, but why stretch your tires?
The only real reason i can see for it is for drifting, not every day driving and not road coursing due to a loss of durability and performance. Im sure im gonna get flamed for this but i am curious.

Not even for drifting. Its stupid to be honest. Just get teh proper tires for your rims and be done with it.

Oh ive got my wheels and they've got the proper tires, ive been seeing alot of e30s with stretched tires and have been wondering why they've been doing this to their cars.

Here we go again...
If you want to fit a wide wheel, fitting 'normal' sized tires might cause crazy rubbing. If you stretch the tire, you can fit the wheel snugly under the fenders.

Spot on.
On lowered cars if you want the rim to sit in the normal position you need to run a bit of tyre stretch.
If you run normal tyres it will hit the guards.

It still looks terrible and not very functional IMHO....
A little bit might be ok, but some guys take it way too far.

I figure tire stretch is either done for looks or someone gave you a set of tires and all you got is a wide wheel and you don't have the money to say no...
