Well, the current 17" type 5 wheels with tires kinda rub sometimes on my E30 so I decided that since it's now going to be my daily I cannot afford rubbing with 2 people in the car and hard cornering or highway speed bumps that cause rubbing.
So, yesterday I ordered a set of wheels and tires from TireRack. Free mounting and balancing. They arrived this afternoon via UPS. I know the UPS guy because he's delivered quite a few times here.
In less than 48 hours I had new wheels and tires (mounted and balanced) delivered to my house from TireRack. I think that's pretty awesome service.

I've never understood the fascination with Tire Rack. I can go down the street to Kauffman Tires, buy, install and drive away in less time for about the same price.

But then you have to go... you know.... outside. :stickoutt
P.S. I've never seen a Kauffman tires but most of the stores around here don't have the selection that TR does. They generally stock the dubs and crappy tires.

I cannot remember the last time I went to a brick and mortar store to look for tires.
Another thing I love about TR and will try to always buy from them; is that they sponsor so many formulas. It's great that the do and I get a lot of enjoyment from their sponsorships.

Agreed, have used TR in the past and they're service was excellent! I would still use them if I didn't get my tires direct from falken.

no run-flats. Conti's my commuter tires.
got a flat 30 min from home, like ten min from Amurricas tires.
and i put my spare on, and got the tire replaced.
simple as that. comes with their gurantee when you buy tires.

I love tirerack. When I was 17 I ordered "wider" tires for my 944, they were wider but I didnt know what I was doing so the sidewall was huge. I drove on them for about 2 weeks and decided to order new tires. I guess the guy that I was talking to saw my old order and asked about the tires. I told him I screwed up and ordered the wrong size and he told me, "when the new tires come in, send the old ones back and we will refund the money." Since then they have had my business and my old dealer started using them rather than local guys.

no biggee. I didn't read the whole thread, just scrolled through it to see if he had put pics, or said the wheel type.

This feels so superior to the 17" BBS style 5s I replaced. Much much better - smoother etc. Very happy with them.
Pics after a short drive today

Those look wicked clean, I love 'em! Did you already sell the 17"s? If not, how wide are they?
