does anybody make press-in ball joints for OEM control arms? Looking for front outer ball joint for my e46...and if so how hard are they to press out, can you get them out with a standard ball joint tool?

spherical bearings? It's done..they can be pressed in and secured with a snap ring or staked in (which uses a set of staking tools). You can read about these methods in the technical section of aurorabearing.com

He asked about ball joints, not spherical bearings.

OEM's are a one-way item. The ball joints are not replaceable. You'll need to go Meyle or other aftermarket. Mine are on some UPS truck right now. Initial cost is a bit higher that stock but the new joints are only about 40 bucks so in a couple years, I'll be money ahead.
