View Full Version : HPF Begins RHD M3 Turbo Kit Development - Donor Car Arrives
HPF Chris
06-15-2010, 07:43 PM
We just received our donor RHD E46 M3 today from Europe. We will be developing modifications to our existing turbo kit to work on all RHD E46 M3s. I just took these pictures with my iPhone so the quality isn't that great. I'll keep everyone updated on the progress. We have a lot of people wanting an RHD turbo kit for their M3s and we look forward to providing them with a turbo solution. Developing the RHD M3 application is now our new #1 priority.

First thing I would assume is some interference possiblities with the steering and the LHD manifold and exhaust set-up. Which could be a big deal.

Yah I sold my E46 M3 in May this year and bought a 135. The E46 HPF package is great but it's a little old school now and fashion never sleeps.
I also recently purchased a bunch of aftermarket gear to hop up the 135 since HPFs 135 product set plans are more than a year off.
Best of luck to HPF E46 M3 RHD customers, what a fabulous product set with great results!

Thanks everyone. Yes, the steering shaft is one of the largest obstacles. We will need to position the turbo in a different location.

they need to do a s50b32 e36 RHD version also LOL.
for the money and the P&P nature of this kit it will be a winner.
Are they going to develop an e85 programme as in Australia it looks like this fuel will be redily available in a short time

I estimate about 35% of the E46 M3's are RHD.
I'll tell ya, this right here is saying that the amount of demand for this RHD kit must be HUGE!
Good for HPF. They have earned every stinkin' penny!
We have around 40 people that are actively interested in the RHD version. I think once we start selling them, demand for our RHD turbos will increase too. I've done a lot of international advertising.
Isn't the RHD for sale on your website since forever ago?
We put it up there so people would know that we will have it at some point.
Here are some new pictures. Turbo location will be interesting but we'll work it out.

im only very worried about the temps here in asia... its quite extreme. i wonder if it will last, running it in the sepang track day on a really hot day like 40 degrees celcius and high humidity.
I was also wondering if the steering rack be modified with some kind of linkage to allow space for the turbo.

Have u guys considered mounting the turbo on the passenger side of the Rhd M?
I was thinking of doing this on a Z4m.
Will your kit allow for the aircon to be retained?
I am def interested.

The air-con would definitely need to be retained. Don't think too many people would wanna sacrifice that.

We finished the rapid prototypes of the turbo manifold and the turbo outlet to v-band housing. Since space is so tight, we had to design a housing for our turbo outlet/wastegate. This part works on both the upper and lower turbos. We have some minor modifications for the turbo manifolds, then we can design the piping and send the manifolds off to have the tooling made.

Update... Two complete production HPF RHD kits are built and ready to ship (minus an AC line and an overflow tank which will be done next week). I asked my guys to fully assemble both kits on the car and disassembled them to ensure our customer's won't have any issues and all the necessary parts are included in our production batch. The first kit has already been completely assembled on the RHD M3 here and disassembled. We will be fully installing the 2nd kit and John will be creating the RHD instructions based on his installation of this 2nd kit. We hope to be shipping these two kits later next week, so stay tuned. We will immediately begin building the next batch of 5 RHD kits which will happen much quicker, so if you want to lock in your order send an email to kirk@horsepowerfreaks.com, branden@horsepowerfreaks.com or erik@horsepowerfreaks.com.
