E34 Reverse beeps?

Is this stock?

Thing is, I've had my E34 for a few months now. I use it only for pleasure driving while I daily drive my E39 and I rent a garage where I store the E34 when I'm not using it. I always back it into its spot.

Yesterday I bought and installed tail lights with white turn signals and replaced those hideous Hella Dark lights that were installed when the car was in Germany.

Since I changed the tails the car always beeps when I'm backing up... like I'm driving a trailer or something!

Now, I don't know what I have done to turn this thing on. The only difference in the lights is that the new trunk inserts have fog lights while the other ones did not, so there was a fog light bolted to the bumper which I removed.

I had the idea that maybe if the reverse light bulbs died this would happen instead, but both bulbs light up.

How do I turn this off???

Sounds to me like you got back-up beep-bulbs with your new set of tails? Or did you use the old ones?
You bought the tails brand new or used?

Well, a video would help along with pics of the lights and bulbs. Do your taillight bulbs look like this?

I remember my aunt's B7 RS4 beeped inside the car when you selected reverse just in case you meant to select first and accidently hit reverse... pretty cool feature actually

or a BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP for as long as the reverse gear is selected.

i read the OP as having a single beep when he puts it into reverse. If tahts the case, i assumed even though both reverse lights come on, they may be the wrong bulb types and giving the OBC a wrong resistance reading, thus setting off the reverse bulb warning.

I checked and this is what I had. I just bought these trunk inserts from a junk yard and didn't check the bulbs. I laughed a lot when I found out.

It was BEEP BEEP BEEP for as long as it was in reverse and the car actually running. For some reason the car won't even light up the left reverse light with a regular bulb unless the engine is running. It's enough to put the car in reverse and switch it on to turn on the right reverse light.

Oh man... now I gotta find some car to put this on :lol

If you got a constant beep i'd say you have the PDC option on your car? Park distance control. Which gives you beep sounds when in reverse.
Constant or beep beeo sounds that is depending on object behind and if the PDC is still working or not. Usually constant beep is when the PDC isn't working as it should.

Put the bulb in the E39 since it is easier and I alredy started working on the E34 so I can't start it now.
