well, i went to the track the other night and i did horrible. lol My trans hates my guts now and just as i feared i didnt have enough gear/tire to make it thru the traps in my power band. i was trapping 140's but could barely muster up 10's.:(

so i may need to give a different gear a shot because im not sure if ill be able to fit anything much larger then the 26in hoosiers i have now.

welcome to the E36! how can i help you?

lets see the vids or slips so we can all share our thoughts... you WILL be good for 9's once setup and boogying down the 1320

vids arent worth watching colby. like i said i did horrible and even though my trap is up i couldnt complete any clean passes. Either i was frying the tires or i was boggin, but i just couldnt find the sweet spot. I need a longer 1st gear and more MPH outta my final. Since i cant change my 1st gear best thing i can do is play with final and tire size. Not sure if i can squeeze a 28in slick, but im pretty sure i could get a 27in in there.

I believe SFR still has an open 2.93 of mine sitting around. Can't remember if I got rid of it. I'll ask and if so you only have to pay for packaging/shipping.

good luck john - i can't fit 27's very well on my E34, so I think you might have trouble on an e36.

You may need to raise the rear of your car?

I recall what Ulysses used early on.

The car is on stock rear springs now, and if i need to i can add a thicker spring cusion. However my only concern is whether or not a 15x8 wheel with 5.5in backspacing will stick out too much and put the tire into the fender.:(

328 SPORT rims w/ these (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?campid=5335818596&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Febaymotors%2F26X1 0-5-16-MICKEY-THOMPSON-ET-STREET-DOT-DRAG-TIRE-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem1e5b344887QQitemZ13037 9171975QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccesso ries) or the 3053 slick

Unless you really need to have 15" rims/tires
If no budget, then custom rims.

I have two 2.93s that I was keeping as spares; you're free to take one of them if you'd like.

What size gears do you currently have? I have open 4.10 in mine. Iam not sure if there gonna be to much, so I kept my 2.93's just in case. Seem like you have ppl closer to you anyway with what you need. Let me know if anything.

I wanna see a picture of your car sitting on 26" slicks lol. Sounds badass.

I'm just curious why you're looking for an open diff?

You know what,
my spacial thinking was DRUNK this morn.

Forgive me.

You're looking to run TALLER tires and/or LONGER gears.

The coffee is kicking in. :D

thanks a bunch guys. bfc forced induction section is full of the BEST guys who support each other. Nowhere else can we go to get similar treatment and deals for our cars. Madhatter, you appear to be closest to me here in buffalo new york, ill send you a pm.:)

The reason im looking for the 2.93 diff is because its readily available and thrown out by many so its dirty cheap if not free, and it will get me about 10mph more in each gear in comparison to my current 3.15 lsd. Only down fall is i will have to swap/transfer lsd's or just go with the ol' lincoln locker.lol

Im revving my car out to 7400rpm to get threw the traps and i know im not making any where near my power band there. Also i need a longer first gear so i can get my turbo spoolin and ready for the 2nd gear shift. I easily clear the current 26x9.5x16 hoosier qtp's on my 328 sport wheels, however im not sure if the diff alone will give me enough MPH so im thinking 27in slicks are in order. Unfortunately a 27in slick will not work well with the 328i sport wheels since they are only 7in wide and ill most likely be getting a 10in wide slick.

just thinking out loud here. thanks gents.

if you must view my epic failure, here is a vid someone else shot of there record breaking dsm that i was racing. I also managed a datalog where it appeared my tune was off because i was seeing 10.2 afr's across the board. It was hot and humid so that may of had something to do with it. Either way i know what i gotta do before i go back to the track. like i said this was just a shakedown day and im happy to finaly get out there after not racing it in almost 2years.

just beware that you cannot swap out the LSD carrier of the 3.15 LSD that you have now into the 2.93.

I'll check my messages now and reply to you.

anyways, the community is what we're all about, helping each other out through knowledge and sometimes parts. I have two of these diffs, I would be happy to see you do something with one of them while I keep the other as a spare.
