I have 4x17" Style 65 alloys (http://www.e39m5.net/style-65-e39-m5-alloy-wheels) on my Executive 2001 530i.
At low speeds and under braking there is a lot of tyre noise (more than I would expect for this type of car). It sounds like there is also a repeating noise from one of the tyres (i.e. only once a rotation) that is directly related to speed - flat spot or bulge maybe?
I had the dealer check out the bearings/bushings etc. (i.e. mechanical things) and everything looks OK, they concluded it was tyre noise.
I bought the car with Dunlop SP Sport 3000 (http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews67014.html) tyres all round, and of the same proportion @ 93W with plenty of tread left on them.
At higher speeds i.e. 100km/h plus it seems to settle but it is definitely more noticeable at slower speeds.
Everything else about the car is perfect and those wheels do look sweet. Before I look into a quieter tyre I was hoping for some feedback re this particular tyre or other similar experiences? Is there something else I should be checking?
