I'm thinking about buying an 02 mini cooper s that needs a motor. the one thats in it now is locked up... if i buy it should i rebuild the motor or should i swap it out? if i do a swap how hard would that be? any help is appreciated. Oh the car has 91k on it, let me know what you think. Thanks!

I can get a new motor for $5k, but we also build full race motors for a bit more with a bunch of HP upgrades.
The actual swap isn't too bad, just time consuming. Just take the whole front end off the car.

do you sell any used motors? how hard would a swap be? any special tools needed? anything else you can give me would help a lot. Thanks!

Yeah we part out MINI's from time to time. The swap isn't technolicaly challenging, it's just time consuming.

I know its pretty straight forward and you are exactly right, but you have to admit that statement about removing the whole front of the car is funny ;)
I helped a buddy swap a different B series motor into his old single cam civic and it was surprisingly simple, I'd imaging its easier swapping and identical motor into a FWD car.
