Clutch stiffness

I picked up an 06 MCS about a month and a half ago. Car's mint and only has 25,000 kms (less than 16,000 miles). Love the car but I noticed that the clutch pedal requires more effort to push down than my original clutch on my 94 325ic with approx 72,000 miles. The e36 clutch feels lighter and smoother.

I'm guessing that a lot of you Mini owners on this forum (like me) either have or had BMWs. Is this high pedal effort normal for Cooper S cars?

Considering the car has a four cylinder engine the clutch is quite heavy. I think it may be a little heavier than my Z4's clutch, but not by much.
