I have looked around but i could not find if any1 has installed those headers on an m52 engine. The reason i ask is because on their website it says for m3-s50,s52,s54.

Ah, I was looking at the short tube headers that require less (maybe no) modification to install. Those long tubes require welding, or those dinky clamps to attach to the stock exhaust IIRC.

I thought 328s have the same exhaust manifolds and midpipe as an M3?

So what is the difference between them? From what i can understand is that the short give you low end power and the long give you mid to high?

other way around. Short for higher rev bands, Long for lower rev bands

Dont waste your money on the shorties, your car already has them. And for future reference the m52 has the same headers as the s52

Shortie aftermarket headers are nowhere nearly as restrictive as the stock ones. The stock ones are only separate for about 3-5 inches before combining into one big tube. The aftermarket shortie headers haev about a foot-foot and a half of individual exhaust tubing before joining into one. This allows the engine to breath better and not let it starve itself during gas scavenging.

What you are talking about is Equal length exhaust manifolds/headers. These are pricy and generally not cheap and or generic. Also, i have never seen equal length short headers before. Usually there are equal length long tubes.

Short tubed headers will give almost no gain at all, either in power or torque. It may make the car sound a little better, im not sure about the m52. Most decent cars today basically already have short tubed headers rather than exhaust manifolds anymore!

The benefits are minimal if done on their own but combined with at least a cat-back exhaust you should see and feel the car pull easier in the higher revs with short headers and pull easier from a dead stop or low revs with the long tube headers.

I agree that if he replaces his stock headers with raceland (non-same length) headers he'll only get a sound difference, but no performance gain as the "added length" is barely any.

so whats best for a supercharged m52? race lands or the tuned shortys
i plan on full on s52 cams next month

but for now the stock exhaust needs to go.

i dont want there to be a hold up when boost hits 15psi

Well long tubes, I've heard/read, will give you a little more HP throughout since there is enough power now that it is supercharged.
Just will need to have them welded in though.
