question for the experts re: m6 and L6

I purchased an 87 US spec M6 last weekend, and have been familiarizing myself with it. (Still haven't posted pics, because I haven't had time to take them in daylight, sorry).

Anyway, the M6 I purchased has leather interior, leather dash, leather center consoles, leather doors, leather roof/sunroof cover, and the rear seat A/C.

I thought that this was only an option on the L6. Did this all leather option also come on the M6? I haven't heard it mentioned before.

The L6 was a US only model for 1987 and was just an optioned out 635CSi. Same engine and automatic transmission as a standard US 635CSi of that year would have, same body, same mechanical pieces, but they got the super decked out "cow explosion" leather interior and the rear AC setup as standard. They might have all come with the self leveling rear shocks too but I don't know for sure.

The M6, especially in the US, got pretty much every option as standard equipment, so the cow explosion interior is pretty common.

Euroshark described it well except there was no leather dash for 1988 Ms. The leather dash was prone to deterioration.

afaiK the '87 US spec M6 got the same puffy leather treatment all over that the L6 had

The 87 M6 came with full cow interior. Then the dashes started curling in hot climates, so the 88 got vinyl. The 88 also got an airbag steering wheel. They have been known to go off randomly after 20+ years. I prefer my 87.
