Okay...
I don't run style 5, but planning to
I'm not pro at style 5 fitment or anything
I don't know if this had been done before
I create this thread is trying to get those who run style 5 to teach those who are interest in style 5 including myself.
Okay here what i get from some reading
Most people run 215 and 205 without rubbing fender
Roll fender seems like the only solution to fit bigger tire
10mm or 10mm+ spacer is needed. (Not sure)
Questions:
Are those 215/205 good for performance?
Can I run 235/215 or something bigger?
Where can i get those spacer that has the hub for 5er wheel but fit e36?
How thick is the spacer should be?
Is steering wheel shaky?
Some people who run style 5 plz correct me if i'm wrong
and plz put some more detail to teach us who want to run style 5
Hope this will help everyone
Thanks

You do NOT want to run a spacer. You just need a hubcentric ring that will fit between the wheel and the centric lip on the hub. You can put a wide tire on with fender rolling+pulling, however 215s should fit fairly well with maybe only a slight roll. You can always get stickier rubber if you want more grip to maybe counter act some of the width loss - just be aware that the tire WILL wear quicker than a wider not so sticky tire, even though they will have equal amounts of traction (depending on tire of course so don't flame me).

As for spacers You def will need them. U may not now but if you ever put new brake pads on you car will not roll. All you need is 5mm spacer but a 10mm will work. I got mine from velocity motorcars.

Style 5 ain't Style 5.
They came in various sizes and offsets (model specific) as well as center bore sizes - and all of them are named Styling 5. But next to this there is another individual "naming" which is:
RC035 for 8x17, offset 20
RC038 for 9x17, offset 22
RC039 for 9x17, offset 26
RC040 for 7.5x17, offset 41
RC009 for 8x17, offset 10
RC010 for 9x17, offset 19
all of the above have the smaller 72.5mm center bore.
Then there are the E39 specific versions with 75.2mm center bore (HCR required for non E39 bimmers):
RC090 for 8x17, offset 20
RC091 for 9x17, offset 27
A complete list including model reference and all data you find here:
http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/?felge=52
I hope this helps a little :)

any more discussion?
So wut is up with spacer?
Need or not?

for an E36 the offset is pretty low anyways. Spacers make it just worse. So definitely NO SPACERS. Eventually hub centric rings if E39 specific Style 5s are being used.

isn't the stock E36 offset +37?

isn't the stock E36 offset +37?
depends on the wheel. Even OEM wheels for the E36 vary slightly. The E36 Style 5 have 41mm.

On an M3? The M3 brakes are larger calipers than a 325 so thats Y they are not rubbing...
any more discussion?

On an M3 yes you need atleast a 5mm spacer.....only when you have new brakes and rotors.....
I thought I didnt need a spacer till I put new brakes on and BAM! my caliper rubbed the wheel....bad
So in conclusion:
Non m3......no spacer
M3...once you put new brake pads on.....YES need spacers.(fronts only)

Question:
At the local junkyard I found a set of these (actually I spotted 5) from an E34
(just a sample pic not the actual wheel obviously)
http://www.autoindependent.com//upload/web%20pics%20042.jpg
From what I've read the offset is the issue fitting these on an E36.
With stock suspension, and a lower profile tire, is it feasible to run these?
The wheels at the yard are 15".

Nice choice! Reminds me of the set I refinished my self and sold. Added zinc coated gold bolts...

I realize now the ones I posted aren't style 5s (I'm new to BMW wheels),
but can you or anyone identify the one in the link I posted?
I thought they were 17s but the weave/slots are different.
Also wondering if with a lower profile tire if they will fit an E36 with stock suspension.
Thanks

How about torque specs on the nuts? I did 25 ft lbs. I hope they don't come loose.

Most people do run spacers.. just like I HAVE to run atleast a 5mm to clear the brakes. You dont have to run hub centric rings.. just have to go slow and tq the bolts evenly. Been doing it for years with zero problems.

There's a place in England and one in Germany that I know of that sell the splined bolts, however I do not know if they sell the gold plated ones, not to mention that even the polished bolts cost an arm and a leg! Unless it's really worth it to you, I'd personally go with rs bolts, they will work just fine, as I believe many guys on here have done this.
The England site is justmatz.com. I just looked on their site - they only sell gold rs/rm bolts, however they might be able to get some plated for you.
You should also be able to get a place in the states to plate your old bolts for you, which will undoubtedly be much cheaper.

This is the other place that sells the splined bolts, and they do have them in gold:
http://www.titanium-touch.de/shop/product_info.php?info=p26_Rim-screws-M7x30-for-BMW-Kreuzspeichenrad.html
If the link doesn't go directly there, go to rim screws, flanged cap, M7 size, and it's towards the bottom of the page.

This place can replate your factory hardware. Clear/silver zinc is the factory finish. I got a quote for yellow zinc (gold), and it was $55 ($50 + $5 environmental fee). This does not include shipping, but it does include stripping off the old finishing and cleaning. I think this is a very reasonable price to pay for a finish that will hold up far better than any paint.

These two threads would be good to have in here..
The place that makes your style 5's 3-piece:
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1485105
The best source for BBS centercaps. 70mm face is the correct size to fit into the style 5 caps.
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1473617
I'm looking into what it takes to make 5's into a 3-piece wheel. RS lips may work since they're 34 hole. I'm waiting to hear back on more measurements. I have two barrels with bent lips, so this seemed like a good way to try something new and save a couple wheels with inexpensive used lips. I can also narrow the front to a more appropriate ~7.25" width and not have to run stretched tires to clear my hood (Z3, no fenders ;) ).

Has anyone noticed vibrations after swapping to style 5's? I have been getting some very noticeable vibrations on the highway, usually start at ~80mph. At first I was running some cheap plastic hub rings, but I just replaced them for some of the aluminum ones on ebay. Havnt had a chance to try them out yet, just curious if anyone has had the same experience.

What tires can i run without any scrapes? Its slightly lowered. Today setup (winter tyres) is 205/55/16 and et 42.
Et on style 5 is 20 so that isnt a problem its just tire size Im worried about
