Hi,

i build in a new EDC IV control unit (damping contr., used, same part-no.) in my E38 (yoc 2000) and I want to code it. But I can't access the car with INPA, NCS, DIS or Progman anymore :mad.

INPA reports "IFH-0003: Data transmission HOST/Interface failed", the other programs report quite the same error.

If I disconnect the control unit, INPA and all other progs work fine.

Could somebody help me?

SSS Progman is not working either? I was going to recommend you do a retro-fit programming in SSS.

No, not even SSS. The screen, when the FA/ZCS is determined, stays for a long time...and ends with an error :(. No control units are (automatically) identified.

What exactly do you mean by a retro-fit programming?

Is this item VIN/mileage coded I wonder? If so, then you'll def have issues. Now - I have heard of other softwares able to access these modules and modify them..

Really don't know. Is it normal, that a VIN/mileage coded control unit blocks the communcation between the car and INPA or any other software? Is the EDC control unit one of them? Didn't read it in the TIS...

Can you tell me about the software you heard of?

FWIW, i replaced my LCM in my E39 this past winter. It shows up as a GenIV; yet, from BMW the highest was only Gen3. A chinese-yellowhead GT1 coded it; but not quite right. I assume that older software doesn't have the capability to communicate with revised [security] ecus.
