I decided to buy a 97 540i, but before i do that. i would like to see where i can buy performance stuff for it (intake, exhaust, superchargers....etc) as well as body kits...

please link me to some sites

Lots of mods to make you go broke. Remember it's more upscale than the 3 series. Mods will be hella more expensive, but it's preety fast and with some bolts on it will beat the e36 M3 and it really flies at triple digits speeds.

wont it beat an e36 m3 stock vs. stock?....its got 40hp more....is it that much havier??? anyone know the weight differece?

Once rolling the 6-spd will pull on a stock m3. Dinan has blowers for it, but you know the pricing of didnan mods. GruppeM makes a good CAI for it, check out bavauto (http://www.bavauto.com) for mods.

ESS also makes an SC kit for it. I know somebody with the kit that is happy with it. I believe it is 430hp and the cost is around $5k or a little more.
The e39 540i is quite a bit heavier than an e36 M3 (like 500lbs heavier) but it also has the extra torque of the v8. Similar in peformance, different in temperment.
