View Full Version : De-badge or just remove the "i"?

I am trying to make my 525i look cleaner, and I was thinking of either just removing the "i", so it would just say: 525 (which I think would look pretty slick).
Or just remove all the letters (which I am more reluctant to do).

a lot of people like to but im not a fan of debadging, but I think removing the I would be hot, I actually like rebadging but it in the right way, like say if I get a AA turbo for my 325is, i wanna remove the is and put aa next to it, something like that, I always liked how I saw someone who did a obd1 3.2l swap changed their badge to 332is...shit was hot. Either way remove the i if anything I say but dont debadge, then to me it just seems your trying to be something your not, people willl say hes trying to make you wonder if he has a 540. I dunno but it is your car and if you like it do it!

i think both would look good. personally i went w/the debadged look. and no it wasn't cause it was a 318, just cause i like the cleaner look more.
since you are going to do one or the other, why not start w/the i first and try it out for a few days. if you don't like it you can either put it back on in the original place or debadge it completely.

It will seem like you lost the "i" if you just take it off.
Debadge it.

yes, I agree... don't just do the i...looks sloppy.

Yea, remove the entire badge, or non of it at all. Removing the i makes it look like trash IMO. Looks like a bimmer that wasn't taken car of. One time I saw an e46 coupe with just the Ci. What was like WTF.

When I bought my car, the "i" was missing... I was told someone stole it from the car when it was parked in the driveway. It didn't look good.

Definitely debadge. Removing just the i will NOT make it look "cleaner"; it will make it look "vandalized".

I saw a 540i without the i and it looked like it had fallen off. I'd say debadge it completely or leave it.

If you're going to "debadge", do it right. Don't "deword", completely DE badge. I mean, remove the BMW roundel as well. I actually plan on doing that (once I get the funds to paint the entire car). I can't stand badges on the car at all. Besides, everyone knows it's a BMW anyway.
But that's my opinion. My last car (yeah, that back was NOT what was supposed to be) was COMPLETELY debadged (front too). I actually got a few tickets for Gray Honda before.

I took off the "i" on my car first and had it like that for a few days before I decided to remove the rest of it. I'm glad I did. It looks much better completely de-badged.

I didn't even notice that was the Audi symbol the first time I looked at it. That's a great idea, very unique (not saying that I think it looks good though).

debadge then rebadge as I525 that would be cool!
or even better get it to say 525CIISI why not just get another three or four 525I badges. put one on the other side of the trunk some on the fenders maybe even some on the rims.
oh and dont forget the hood. another 5 badges there :)

Well, it USED to be. I sold it last June. Thanks! Yeah, that exhaust was NOT supposed to end up like that. It's a little crooked and not as nice as I had hoped. I even made ANOTHER set (smaller tips and EXACT proportions). I just didn't get around to installing it because I wanted a FULL exhaust and by that time I realized I had spent WAY too much modding it.
As for that bumper, totally not what I wanted either. That's probably one of the reasons I even sold it. I just didn't want to spend more money "fixing" it.

I say you should have removed the "525" and kept the i. It makes it look like you ARE a car

in china i saw an e38 that was badged 7iL. looked weird.
1 more vote to debadge! I got rid of the "Z3" on my car which definitely makes it look cleaner, but I still wish the trunk release wasn't there. If you really want to be different how about debadging and then using the 5 in place of the Roundel? Not sure how it would look but it'd be different

I have a better idea. Go buy a lot of letters used on various BMWs and put them ALL on. Then feel cool cruising in your 525sLide.

Yeah, just add an L.
People will be confused, well really only enthusiasts.
Most other people could care less.
