Got a weird one here.

When I accelerate, the door open warning pops up and the interior lights come on. I let off the gas, it goes away.... I checked the switches and everything seems to be in order. It seems to do it more when someone is riding along. And yes, they are closing the doors all the way. LOL. Oh, and it's a '91 535i.

The switches are in the door "strikes", the piece the latch grabs onto mounted in the door opening. There is a plug on the back, perhaps one is loose. If the strtike/switch is bad I have a few laying around.

Ok, so I figured out the door open issue. The driver door strike/catch( mounted on the jamb, not the door) has a micro-switch in it. I'm sure everyone is aware of that. So the catch was worn enough that the catch in the door wasn't making contact with the micro-switch all the time. You can either adjust the catch on the jamb out just a hair, wrap some electrical tape around the catch(in the jamb), drill it out and machine a new one(like I did, I is a machinist), or replace the worn catch with a new one. mmmkaaay. I can scratch that off the to do list.
