My new to me 535i. Has a couple of minor bugs to work out, but I traded my '85 535i for it. This one is closer to what I want.

So what's the rest of the story? Is it stock, straight-stick, what's to fix, etc. Inquiring minds want to know...

Someone put 540 honeycombs on it? Odd. Basketweaves look a million times better.

The issues are:
1. the door open signal comes on when you accelerate , turns off when you let off.
2. Needs a tune up.
3. needs wiper blades.
4. the driver seat back needs to be tweaked via the info I found just showing up and posting a pic and disappearing until I have a question.
Sorry for not posting just to post. When I know enough about these cars to help out, I will post. and yes. I do have an attitude. Other than that, love the car and love the forum.

1. Electrical gremlin. Might be the connection near the door switch, or even the switch itself.
2. (self explanatory)
3. replacement inserts are cheaper. The driver's side blade is backwards and is specific for our cars.
4. twist? easy fix, just search.
Post when you want... there is no require to post a lot. If you're here to learn, fine, that's ultimately why we are all here.

When you find out what this one is, you need to stop back and let us know. I'm really curious. Plus I think there might be a great joke setup somewhere in there...

Ok, so I figured out the door open issue. The driver door strike/catch( mounted on the jamb, not the door) has a micro-switch in it. I'm sure everyone is aware of that. So the catch was worn enough that the catch in the door wasn't making contact with the micro-switch all the time. You can either adjust the catch on the jamb out just a hair, wrap some electrical tape around the catch(in the jamb), drill it out and machine a new one(like I did, I is a machinist), or replace the worn catch with a new one. mmmkaaay. I can scratch that off the to do list.
Oh, and I didn't know till today that when I opened up the sunroof(just pop the rear up) the headliner didn't pop up with it. I noticed a couple of pins that should have been in a couple of grooves weren't in the grooves...no lift. I peeked around and realized the whole sunroof didn't have to come out to get it back together. You can unclip the liner from the front via a clip on each side. Just open snrf halfway, unclip liner, "close snrf(helping the headliner with it) till it's almost closed. Slide the liner backward about 4" and pull back to normal position, engaging the clips. Then try it out. The liner now pops up with the sunroof. No need to guide anything, it will guide it's self. Hope I contributed for a change.
Update: 5/22
Fixed the headrests and the crooked seat back. I love this forum!
