E60 used SZL

Hello everybody,especially hello to RONDO
Recently I installed used SZL control unit on bmw e60 but I can't code it and I can't initialize steering angle sensor because on this SZL control unit there is wrong VIN number,somebody please help me..
I have NCS expert but I don't know how to change VIN number,if somebody knows how,please reply

Hi guys in my case there is an used cruiese control have been builted on a E90.
Problem is the same, vin change in unit. NCS, winfkp or etc? Have it, use it but vin change is unknown for me. Thank you for helping guys. Regards

NCS can do it, but for some modules the number is write protected. Try the function "FG_Schreiben". It might go under a different name for some modules - the German abbreviation for VIN is FG

Hi Terra, I saw in jobs the FG_schreiben function, and I was wondering that it can be that function what modify the vin number but without experience I dont dare to try it.

You say that in some modules they are write protected. If I run to a module which is wp an try this function can this function harm the module or simply I got some kind of error message that it can not be changed?

if it's write protected you'll get an error and there won't be any change to the module

Winkfp is an unknown territory for me so better for me is to make theese changes in ncs. BTW if you have some explanation for me how can is it be done in Winkfp please pm me.

My ecaxt problem is that my friend's 2006 E90 is originally without cruise control. He bought a second hand cruise control modul and we changed the hardware (in the instrument cluster too.
As I wanted to code first I wanted to add $540 FA in the three modules which has the vo. After I wanted the recode the three units and dsc any maybe kombi. But this is only a plan, this time don't succeed.

But however my 2006 E60 with NCS works perfectly, in this car which is the same year 2006 but E90 has the following error after adding FA, and F6(back): FSW faulty.

Now I don't know where can be the failure.
I think my daten files are up to date.
I have not E90 in the chooseable list in NCS but I read forums that I must use E89. I don't know, maybe here should I do anything. But not sure.
Now, after you friends here answered my question, I think that could be a problem that this unit is a second hand and maybe has the car's configuration from it. And that's why I can modyfi anything in it, first I should change vin.

But because the error windows I get mentioned above, I cant' see even the Change job function in ncs, however a trace file is generated in Work folder which is look like good. So in this case I cannot get even the menu where I could FG_schreiben. or lesen.

I don't know, maybe I miss a step or something is wrong in my configuration (don't think so).

Any suggestion, help, here or pm are welcome, and who helps me, I will talk to him how to honor. Thanks guys.

Hi one thought did you select the correct FA to install seems there are 3 to choose from.
W 540 GESCHW_REG //[E90,E91,E87] GESCHWINDIGKEITSREGELUNG über Lenkstockhebel
W 541 ACC //[E90,E91] Adaptive Geschwindigkeitsregelung II
W 544 D_GESCHW_REG //[E90,E91] Dynamische Geschwindigkeitsregelung

Hi Rondo, only tried the 540 its a simple cc (not dynamic not adaptive)

Can the problem is that it is an used cc modul so need to change vin in it firstly? What do you think? Even the cc modul has vin information in it?

Hi I only see the CAS&LMA modules that store your VO what is the third one?
Can you read the added FA in both the CAS&LMA?

Rondo, in this case the car is E90 not E60. There are 3 modules to code in the FA. In E60 there if two CAS LMA but this car is an E90.

Hi there,

I'm in the same situation of the creator of this post.
I've purchased a used SZL (e90), but when I diag it wih INPA it gives me the message "Error SZL coding".

I've already coded $540 in CAS and now I'm able to see "Cruise Control" in INPA, and when i do a test of it and i push the buttons, they're recognized properly.

Anyway, when I check DSC module errors on INPA appears the message: SZL coding error and SZL incorrect serial number

On the other hand there's the steering adjustment.
¿How can i do it? ¿with NCS or INPA?

Update: I've coded the other two modules with value $540 and the "SZL coding error" has dissapeared. Now only appears: "SZL incorrect serial number".

So, I would need help to:

- Do the steering adjustment
- Change SZL S/N
- Clear the errors: Tyre pressure and DSC.

Yes, I know...it's over a year old thread, but...
Did anyone found a soultion how to change VIN on SZL? I got used steering column switch cluster on my E91 and need to change it's VIN.

I have just fitted a used szl in my e61 because the horn was on all the time grrrr,
Anyway now horn is ok but i need to recode because i cant clear the faults in dsc and airbag light any ideas i hope the unit is not faulty and i hope it just needs program/recode any help much appreciated.
I have inpa and dis but i cant get dis to connect i cleared the faults with the old szl in inpa no problem but the new one i cant is this due to programming/coding or is it a faulty szl maybe i am told it was fine.
Just getting dis and sss progman to work before i can find out anymore any help or info would be great i am starting to think its the replacement szl unit because the steering angle wont reset when i turn the wheel from lock to lock.
