So there are like colored squares under the odometer when i start my car for 2 seconds what are they?

They are suppost to tell you when to do oil changes..etc. But I wouldn't recommend going by them.

its the service indicator, almost like a health bar on a video game

They can be reset with a Peake code reader/reset tool. Eventually they will come back as you put more mileage on the vehicle after the reset and your car hits the specific mileages that BMW set up for maintenance and inspection periods. They are essentially worthless to the DIY guy or anyone outside of the dealership. If they bother you drop the money on the tool, otherwise just live with it.

Not at all true. The service interval lights and the oil change lights can be reset using a paperclip.

Most people do oil changes when 2-3 green bars disappear.
