Hi there guys, i've just joined the forum and this is my first post, the forum seems great and a there is a wealth of info out there. It's great to be on board.

Ive got an E34 540iA and have found a set of BBS RC 18x8.5 et13 and 18x10 et25 for sale in my area. When i fitted the rear 10's without a tyre the rim touches the pressed lip of the suspension arm. Ive seen E34's with this wheel on the forum, so was surprised when i had problems. Will grinding the lip off the suspension arm give enough clearance for the wheel and tyre? (I was planning to use a 265/35/18). Or is the 18x10 et25 just too big for an E34? I hope not as they look awesome?

I would love to hear what you think and how i can get then to fit.

Cheers

how much room do you have on the fender side? could you run spacers?

Your best bet would be to run spacers. We have a large selection of spacers avaialble just for the E34 below...

Feel free to shoot us a PM if you have any questions!

Cheers,
Joe

yeah i have considered spacers but it'so much easier not to.

A 5mm spacer (on a 18x10 et 25) will place the tyre (265/35/18) in the exact position as the original M5 E34 M Par (18x9 et 20).

If i grind the lip off the suspension trailing arm, it gives an extra 8-10mm clearance. And I reason that with a 265/35 tyre on a 10' rim, the rim will be the widest part of the wheel and tyre.

I will give it a try without a spacer and let you know how i go. Thanks for the reply.

if it doesn't work out, send me the 10's and I'll send you a pair of 8.5's :D

I think I'd rather run a 5-8mm spacer then go grinding suspension components to make wheels fit. Not only is it less work, it is safer and will look better with the wheels not tucked into the center of the car. Just my 2 cents.

I am running a 3MM spacer in the rear of my M5. 18x10et25 BBS RC with 265's. 275's next time around.

Thats interesting 95//M3, did you have any clearance issues with the rear trailing arms? or did you use the spacers just to fill the guards out?

Im also curious how much rubbing you get (that would be your tyres im talking about :) ). or did the M5 have different rear arms or hub dimensions to other 5's.

Anyway, thanks for the thoughts. Have you got any pics of your M5 five? I should get the wheels on next week. will let you know how i go.

The beading on the trailing arm was making contact with the wheel; therefore the 3mm spacers.

I would go with the spacer idea before I started grinding off part of the suspension.
