Hi all.

I am getting new wheels/tires mounted tomorrow VERY early (umm...8 hours from now, actually). I just read about how it would be good to apply wheel wax prior to mounting new wheels so you can work deep inside the wheel more easily than after it is mounted.

My question is that since I don't currently have any wheel wax and stores will not be open prior to getting this done, is it possible to use regular car wax or (even paint sealant) on the wheels as a one time thing? Or would that be harmful to my silver painted alloy wheels?

Going forward, which wheel wax would you reccommend? I would like to go with a product I could order through Autogeek, if possible. Any thoughts on DP wheel glaze or wheel wax brands? How about any other brands outside of Autogeek?

I appreciate your help.

get the Armor All spray on stuff at Wally World. The wheel wax is a waste. I had an X5 that had massive dust, helped none. I like the spray...and it works.

Use any wax you can get.
I just cleaned my car today and waxed the body and wheels with Collinite 845 wax.

Think about it... why would paint sealant or regular waxes damage the wheels finish when they can be applied over the exterior?

there is wax specifically made for wheels. many say just use normal body wax though. the best thing to do is to keep them clean on a regular basis. just call you detailer!
