You could maybe powercoat them a "Black chrome" or "hyper black" color.

Oh yeah they probably are polished alum. You could strip the clear and go with a brushed silver look. That might look good.

You would have to put a HEAVY brush on it but it can be done.

Nice, I just finished a set of style 5s. I found these little cotton buffing balls and put them in my pneumatic die grinder with a pressure regulator to control the speed. Saved me tons of time, I could polish a style 5 lip in about an hour.

I did this lip in about an hour, the sanding took much longer. The valve cover is a work in progress.

very nice work

yeah, the sanding is the worst part, I know

but you have to set a goal

usually I just finish 1 wheel completely so I have something to look forward to on the next 3 :D

I have been polishing aluminum since I was a kid, its just kinda second nature to me now. Polish until its done. hahaha

There is something about using cotton on any machine polishing you do, its magical.

BMW wheels

very popular in Europe in the 90's, 10's were the widest you could get, the fronts have 8.5 stamped in them :D;)

yep

I tend to use preshrunk T-shirts as weapon of choice, dunno why, but it comes out the best

it's a process, but well worth it when done right

wait, this'll give you a chuckle

polishing 3pc wheel lips with the bolts still in :rofl

To the OP:

You can get clearcoat tinted any color (black in your case). This, sprayed over your current polished lips will give you "black chrome".
