Explains a good bit. Although the only things that apply to us are the tie rod spacers and knuckles. I like how they address roll centers. I also like how one guy uses both spacers and knuckles.

Hmm, i just added spacers...and I used washers and it looks nothing like the spacers used in this vid...as long as the spacers are smaller than the hex portion of the tie-rod you should be good, right?

as long as the washers are thin enough to go into the rack, you're good.

Mine look exactly like the ones in the video. But mine was machined and not washers.

damn its cool how they taped to floor to quantify the angle difference with the spacers very substatial!

makes me want to make a CNC'ed aluminum drop spindles with dual sheer tierod end mounts.

Anyone know where I can get a cracked version of solid works?

I couldnt figure out how to install it though....

Instead of something from scratch it would be better to design a generic upright with a bolt on lower section to accomodate each different car application.

Williams and Reynard both used Formula car uprights on their BTCC cars in the late 90's with machines pieces to adapt them as a strut.

For strut cars its easy as hell, just need a lower ball joint and a steering arm.

^ well my thoughts were also centered on minimizing unsprung weight / correcting roll center and bumpsteer all at the same time. so thats why I was thinking a Billet knuckle

Billet upper section with a bolt-on lower and you run shim plates to adjust bumpsteer. Done.

See this is one of the things I love about drifting, we can do shit like this without any concession made to the rules since steering parts are open
