My 525 has been my friend for so long, I really don't want to let it go! I just added a BUNCH of ACS parts, and Euro headlamps. Oh well....
192hp vs 340hp? It's not hard to figure this one out.

I'm having a hard time getting financed for it since it's a 10yo Euro model!
I really got to get the 525 out then I'll have enough down that I will be mine!

If you can swing it, I'd suggest looking at this one instead
Black `95 M5 (http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/vdetail.jtmpl?car_id=145218144&dealer_id=&car_year=1995&make=BMW&distance=any&max_price=&model=M5&advcd_on=n&end_year=1995&min_price=&certified=n&address=77002&search_type=used&advanced=n&start_year=1990&color=&cardist=1306)
This one still has the Euro gauge cluster. The one you're looking at has had the gauges changed to US-spec. It also has the manual sport seats, which are lighter (~20 lbs per seat) and more fitting of the car's sporting character, IMO

http://www.peoplefirst.com <-- forwards you to the new Capital One auto finance. They don't care what kind of car it is, so long as your credit is good and you pay on time.
I have 2 loans with them, both are under 5%. Can't beat that with a stick! Both of those are dealer used car purchase interest rates, though....

Guys I found a car, I just need to sell my 525 to get the M5, my bank will no loan me all the money for a 10yo car.
That black one is nice, but it's to far, this one is 20min from my house. They have the same gauge cluster. I like memory sport seats more then manual.

BTDT. It's no fun converting km/h to mph in your head when you're driving - and when you got rollers behind you.
You can convert just the speedo which retains everything else (inlcuding fuel gauge in liters) and gives proper (and legally required in the US) mph speedo:

So, my car is technically contraband, eh? :devillook :evil2
When the cop asks me "Do you know how fast you were going?" I can honestly reply "No, officer. I don't." :biglaughb
Converting is not too bad. I made myself a cheat sheet and taped it to the dash as a quick reference. Just remember to keep it between 100 km/hr (62 mph) and 120 km/hr (75 mph).

Seattle ROCKS! It's a lot more fun then the East coast! (Grew up in Boston)
It's a slush box of course (auto trans). It's hard to find a stick in the 5 series.
You know for less then $1000 it can be shipped to your door.

I know a lot of women who have nice "personalities" but aren't much to look at. I bet a black or silver M5 would have better resale too. I'm not knocking the car, it could be a nice one. It's just that PURPLE -err " Daytona Violet" wouldn't be my first choice unless it's an ultra rare car like the M5 Touring for sale elsewhere on this board. And if I could afford another M5 I'd buy that Touring and paint it BLACK! :buttrock

"M" is a character in Ian Fleming's James Bond novels. BMW Motorsport makes the M5.
Taste is always a personal thing, no doubt... but Daytona Violet is an amazing color when you see it in person. It's a color-shifting paint that looks bluish from certain angles.
But one thing I might mention is that a little sensitivity might be in order here... the guy just bought a car, he's totally in love with it. Is it really necessary to tell him "too bad" about the color? We're all friends here, no need to rain on his parade.

Ok, so Purple was my my favorite color either. However, this is a EURO M5, so that in it's self makes it special. Then this is the ONLY US E34 I have ever seen in this color. That makes it cool.
I have a E30 M3, prices for parts will not surprise me at all! After all, the dealer wants over $300 for a cap & rotor on the M3! If the EDCIII goes out, it will be replaced with Sach Sporting Kit, I love this setup for the E34.

I like it a LOT, so far it is the best street setup I have been in for a E34, I actually like it better then the EDCIII.
leaking shocks? Who knows, so far my E34 has had them for 2 years, and they are just like new. I was impressed with the quality of the kit.

Violet was a very popular Euro color, especially on the wagons, where some 200+ of the 800+ E34M5 Tourings were purple. Go figure.

e34 M5 is not worth buying unless it's a late Euro model... If you want to know why, do your research.
And if I could find a Euro 95 M5 / 6sp, I wouldn't give a sh*t what color it was :D
I'd love to put my hands on a base trim Euro M5 with alpina interior...mmmm (erection!) :D

I woud say "not worth buying" is far from accurate! They are still fantastic cars, great performance for the size and cost. With a few tweaks, they can easily be brought up to the 340hp level. Clean examples are still available, and are very reliable when given adequate care and preventative maintenance.

I knew it would hit home... I appologize to everyone who felt offended by my statement. I feel I should explain my self... What I meant was: if I were to get an e34 M5, I would get the Euro 3.8l w/ 6 sp combo. The '95 Europeans are technologically more advanced than their US counterparts (or should I say updated): larger engine, MAF air calculation / more advanced engine management, 6-speed, etc. It's not to say US spec cars are not great. They are by all means. 4-years of extra existance across the pond have some very good things to show for it. That's all. Either way e34 M5 are great cars!
Mblaster

If you are Lucky enough to become an owner of such fine machinery I wouldn't be too picky. In fact US cars have a few nice things going. Most US cars were loaded with all options for the US market. Early E34's had SLS suspension that was easy to modify to a aftermarket sport suspension. 3.6 motors can be tuned to 350+ hp without much hassle.

MBlaster... That's very nice. So, I'm a moron for stating a well-known fact... In that case it makes you an idiot at best. Here's why:
To get you off your high horse, no one said US e34 M5s sucked, what was said that a '95 EURO e34 M5 was better / more advanced than a US 91-93 e35 M5. It's a well know fact buddy. Oh wait, I think I see the reason why you are being so defensive... you have a '91 M5!!! Of course... That said, I'd still punch all your teeth out just to have your car (it does look good with them 5-spokers on) :D
Instead of sounding like a 10-year old kid go find a 95 Euro M5 and see what all the hype is about. I had a pleasure of driving one a couple of months back... I know I'm in love. Something tells me you'll be too. Mmmmm 3.8L, HFM, 6-speed..., Alpina interior... Damn. :buttrock

Yea, you can get the kit from Bav Auto or BMA. I forgot how much... It removes the lines from the actuator that pumps the shocks and plugs everything up. Remove the SLS shocks, and springs if you want to change them too. Making the cars rear suspension more or less a 535. You can pick out your new suspension from there. It's not the purist thing to do but if you have sporting intentions go for it. The car will corner just as good as those 95 Euro M5's w/ EDC shocks, and a helluva lot cheaper. ;)

Granted it's all a statement of opinion, and it seems this crowd has a diferent perception of things. After making up my own mind I chose not to buy a us spec m5 for the prices they go for. I personally couldn't justify it. That's all. I appologize if anyone felt offended, my intent was to state my opinon on the subject, and NOT to get blasted for disagreeing with e34 M5 owners. As long as your car makes you happy, I'm happy. Let's turn down ignorance and turn up acceptance. How about that?
