Athumping noise comes when I accelarate from stop
and then it goes away. Noise seems to come from center
to rear of car. Any advice?

Maybe a carrier bearing.

I 2nd the center bearing of the driveshaft. It has a rubber surround that keeps it in place, when this tears, you get the thumping sound.

Or both. If you're going to replace one, I'd recommend replacing both at the same time.

I've had the guibo go on my E36 and the center driveshaft bearing go on my E39 and to me they make the same noise. Thankfully, the parts are reasonably cheap.

Ditto. It involves also removing the exhaust system, so you will probably snap a bolt or two and also get a couple of gaskets. With the driveshaft out, might want to look at some shifter linkage bushings. Much easier to change them with it off.

Thank you
you wise men;
but I have another problem. I took the car to a BMW experinced mechanic
and he changed the Gibo but now i have a shaking as I take off from
comlete stop. Firt he told me he he was going to charge me $ 200 to fix
the original problem. I ended up paying $ 1,800. for some extra work he did
but the shaking is still there. He did not tell me this was going to be so expensive.
Desperataly need advice on shaking problem.

Tranny mounts, center support bearing not centered/installed properly, motor mounts, old tranny fluid, engine misfire. All possible and the list goes on forever depending on what kind of shaking you have. What in Gods name did he do for the extra $1600?

If he was having one of those, I suggest moving your home further away from the Hollister and Abercrombie stores....
