Just wanted to know if any of you have or know of any good performance clutches to get.

I am thinking about getting one for my 97 M3.

I have some experience with performance clutches in my previous car (Integra). If the results are similar... I'd say DON'T DO IT... it really F*CKS up the driveability and streetability of your car. Unless you drag race all the time, or are pushing 400+ hp... it's really not necessary. Plus, all that clamping power puts more stress on other parts of the drivetrain... stuff starts breaking down very quickly.

i have an Active Autowerkes clutch and it is very streetable. it does also hold the 400hp at the wheels that i have. but i kind of have to agree with the above statement,, unless you have major mods,, the stock clutch will probably do just fine.

Hi KitM3,

More info is needed about the increased performance of your engine?

The concept is to match the increased performance of your engine; increased hp and torque to a specific performance clutch that can handle the increased performance of your engine without slipping under load.

If you have a stock M3, the stock clutch is just perfect and you would be wasting your money on changing out your clutch.

You might also want to consider a light weight fly wheel.

You can add a light weight fly wheel and experience improved acceleration.

Dood, what's up? I'm in your town right now. Tried a car with a Sachs Sport Clutch setup, and it felt great!

talk to you soon,

Thanks for your input guys....

The reason I asked was because a couple of my friends were at Sears Point Raceway a couple weeks ago (taking a performance driving class) and one of the instructors suggested that we change it to a performance clutch because it lasts longer.

The clutch needs to be changed and was trying to decide between a performance and stock clutch.

No mods on my car, bone stock.

Hey Kit,

Good for you to take a performance driving school.

You may not have had the most accurate and informed advice from the driving school instructor?

With a stock car and a 95% daily driver on the street a BMW stock clutch is more then you will ever need.

You will not have more performance or more durable usage from the money you will spend for a performance clutch.

That is: you will gain no added value for the money you spend for a performance clutch.

Good luck!
