I know everyone (including me lol) says you can't fit imperial size tyres on metric rims but....
Has anyone ever tried to machine the edge where the tyre bead sits?
Below is the conversion of metric tyres to imperial, with the difference that would need to be machined off.

If the difference is 8.599mm (8.6mm) would you not be able to machine the edge 4.3mm round the whole rim to make 8.599mm.

Metric - imperial, 415 millimeter = 16.338 582 677 inch
Difference - 8.599 999 995 8 millimeter = 0.338 582 677 inch
Metric - imperial, 390 millimeter = 15.354 330 709 inch
Difference - 9.000 000 008 6 millimeter = 0.354 330 709 inch

Or am i just hoping lol.

Have you meassured the wheel like it is and actual tires that goes on it?

If you meassure the usual kind of wheels you end up with sizes that doesn't match with what's said.
Like plain usual 17" wheels are over 18" on the edge, so if you're calculating without that in mind, it won't give you right numbers to count on.

Just sayin' so you won't calculate if you don't have the actual wheels to meassure it up on.
