If you are not getting any shimmy under braking or looseness in the front end (and if you are not going to track the car), then your thrust arm/control arm bushings are okay. You will know when they go bad!

Bilsteins are great, but will be noticeably harsher until they break in. Konis are a good alternate that remain constant. Either one is a good choice.

UUC now offers springs for all E34 models as used on my own M5 Touring. Figure about a 1.4" - 1.6" lowering and very comfortable for street use due to the progressive-rate design. You can use them with OE or replacement shocks/struts. Price is $285 for the complete set. Please call to order as they are not yet on our website.

Lowering looks like this:

As this is a new product for us, I am offering a satisfaction guarantee on them for 30 days. You don't like them, send them back for a full refund.

ATE rotors are good, or you can find Balo (the best OE replacement) or Brembo (the least expensive - www.tirerack.com). Do NOT get cross-drilled rotors.

Axxis pads are decent for street use, but I would recommend putting up with a little extra dust to have much better braking with Hawk HP-S or HP-Plus pads (also from TireRack). The HP-Plus may squeal slightly as it is a crossover street/track pad.

Damn. Rob just has it covered.

I was gonna say when you start hearing this loud ass clunking sound. Feeling it also. You'll know the thrust arm bushings need to be replaced.

Rob do u have to show off your car when ever you get the chance?

it hurts to think that i'll never own one.

Nope. It just happens to be very useful for demonstrating certain things.

When asked what I drive by non-BMW-community acquaintances, I answer "a Nissan pickup." And it's da troof.
