I need tires.
Badly.
I am wondering if guys have ran this tire size on a 17"x8" wheel?
I have OEM 17"x8" style 5's with 20mm offsets.
I found a good deal on some used tires, but the size is 245-40-17 = 24.7" outside diameter (O.D.)
I have 235-45-17 tires which = 25.4" outside diameter (OD)
So, that's about 3/4" of an inch difference...
If I do get these 245-40-17's, I would get another pair of 245-45-17's to make it a square setup.
Thoughts?

Thank you!

That's not that big of a difference. You're speedo will be a little fast, meaning you'll be traveling a bit slower than what is is shown. Won't be that bad.

Right.
There will be a 3/4" of a difference between the OEM setup and the 245-40-17 size.
I would run 245-40-17 all around.
Things to consider are:
1. Steering response slowed
2. Overall diameter less = more tire rotations
3. Weight - the 245-40-17 tires are heavier than the stock OEM sizes (235-45-17).
Thanks!

I have 245 40 17's on 7.5 wheels with no problems. Tread is flat in the center of the tire also.

That's interesting.
I will have to see some pictures!
What are you trying to say here?:

Not 17s, but I've been running 245 40 18s on my front two rims for about a year with no problems. I cant really comment on the steering response because I've been running this size since I bought the rims. They do bulge just a little bit but the tread is even and I see no stress marks of any kind. I have 9's in the back running 255-35s and the sidewalls seem much firmer..Next time I buy tires I think I'll try 245 35s but the 245 40s are fine. Just my 2 cents. Sweet car btw, coilovers?

Thanks.
But, 245-40-18 is normal for an 18"x8.5" wheel.
Thanks, yes, I have coil-overs.

I run 245/40/17 on my front wheels on the Coupe. No problems. Has a fuller look to it IMO.

Right.
I am wondering if I will need to lower the car more, since the 245's will be approx. 0.75" smaller than my 235's...?
The fender gap between the tire will be increased.

Good question. Good thing you have to ability to adjust the gap.

True, I do have the ability to adjust the heights.
Although, I have to be careful not lower the car too much, because I could ground out.
