I already have 10 people that are interested. so Im sure we will get a good deal.
If you have a definite 15 people, you can set up a date with them and they will give you $40 for 3 pulls and A/F ratio. Then it is $10 more for each additional pull. I am down to dyno once I get my car delivered. I want to see in person the power I am making!!! :evil2 :evil2 :evil2 :evil2

OK so here is the deal. We can have up to 25 cars. 3 pulls for $40. Please send me an email I will keep track first come first served.
14 people said they would be interested. now that we have a date, please confirm with me.
http://www.txspeedworks.com/index.cfm
Bruce is right. I think at the first one, he had about 20 cars and I had about the same. I think we dynoed only 22 cars. Still a good turnout, but only about half of what was expected.
Doug, I am definitely in for mid-Nov.

The last dyno day we had, we had 5 bmw's show, they only made the 15 cars because some 300zx's showed up.

Yep, considering I think out of everyone that has posted, i'm the only one so far who actually got dyno'ed at the last dyno day, I can say Mike's figures are a little off ;)
If I still have my car, i'll be there.

My best was 180.1WHP and 193.4WTQ at 5300RPM at the last one we did at Speedworks on March 29th.
It was depressing to see how my car performs relative to the M3's. :(

Try again Maestro. I am talking about the dyno day before that, when no one on this board except Bruce and Sean were in the scene.
Bruce got all the club racers such as Scott R organized, and I organized the old Pappas/Austin crew.
We had a lot of BMW's. I was at the 350Z dyno as well, but did not ever see one BMW dyno. That turnout was plain sad.
VSV just got a dyno, but I doubt I will take my car there.
Doug, I want to see those cams lay down some power.
Wanna take me for a ride in the cammed M3, and I will return the favor in the turbo beast! It will probably make me want an all motor car again though!

Doug,
You didn't happen to get a baselin pull on THIS dyno did you? I see that you have your power figures on another dyno, but that may make the power change a bit undeterminable (is that a word?).
Who is doing the install? Did you call that place I told you about?

I wound up in the hospital and doctors offices all week with one of my kids. Turned out to be nothing, but I never had a chance to look into the other place. So I wound up going to Autoscope. They did the install for $850 and about $30 for gaskets. I also got 10% off. but got totaly reamed on some royal purple that I bought $10 a quart. they had to get me on something. I will definitly look into the other shop on my next project.
I'd go, but haven't changed anything on my car (motor-wise) since the last dyno.
I might watch.

Would yall mind if a non-BMW came? My husband might want to take his 350 or his Lightning out there for some runs and I figure if yall are doing a dyno day then you might need the people to make the numbers. We know the guys at Speedworks pretty well so I know it won't be an issue with them, I just wanted to clear it with yall first.

Trust me, I know! I was out there after the last BMW day with the 350/300 guys that went up and Dan at Speedworks said only like 5 out of all the people who were supposed to show up showed. The Z guys didn't know it was supposed to be a BMW day, just worked out well for everyone involved. We should see you guys out there then, with one or both of the cars.

Last time (and the only time) I went, I didn't have to bring any hooks of any sort. Maybe somebody did and were letting the rest of us use them, but I'd think that Speedworks would have the right hooks, no?
One more thing to note is that since they'll also be doing A/F ratio, make sure you bring tools to take your head cover off if you're in a E36. (I don't know about other cars so I threw that in there.) It saves time as well.
Steph328
11-06-2003, 10:47 AM
Speedworks does provide hooks.
gobuffs
11-06-2003, 05:51 PM
Unless things have changed (I doubt it) Speedworks does NOT have the t hooks to properly tie down and E36 or E46.
And, yes, you have to have access to an ignition wire to get an RPM reading for the dyno pull. You need to remove the plastic valve cover (all the tools needed are in the trunk tool kit).

Check this page. It shows the t hooks and kind of describes where they go and how they work. These are the tie down points BMW uses when they put the cars on the boat.
(t hooks (http://www.tunnellracing.com/techtips/thookTN.html)
The first time we had a dyno day at Speedworks they wanted to run the straps around the control arms. This can easily bend one or throw the car out of alignment. Unfortunately on my E30 I don't trust the provided tie down points. :-)

Doug, you are pretty lean. I was concerned it might be rich and there still be more power left. I really thought you would be close to 25x rwhp. I made 230/230 with intake and pullies on the same dyno at 95 degrees.
Please post your replies from Eurosport. I am anxious what they have to say. 14.7 is getting dangerously lean. I think optimum for max power/reliability is around 12.7.
Keep us posted.
