Non Armrest in 96 E36

Ive seen pics where people have the center console without the armrest and the gap that it would leave if you tried to remove it normally...... is their a diffrent version of the center console without an armrest??

My 98 4dr doesn't have an armrest nor did it ever. I'll take a pic this evening if someone doesn't before me. Not sure how different it is though.

is it possible to just remove the armrest and buy a little plastic fitting for the gap? or would i need a whole different console

I think you will have to buy a no armrest specific centre console, just check out ebay. Here's what my non-armrest console looks like

It appears as thought the box in the back can be removed and the armrest assembly can be inserted. Check out realoem.com to be certain. Probably need a few parts like armrest, swivel thingy, cover plate...

The console part is the same. Those compartments are modular. You can switch them around or sub them out. Just squeeze the tabs on the side to remove.

Just curious - why do you want to remove the arm rest??
