i had my car on the dyno for the first time today. i'm fairly happy with the results. the car is completely stock, except for a Jun BL muffler. i was hoping to get 180 rwkw so the extra 4 was a nice surprise. the tech said the air/fuel mix was pretty much spot on and the car was running perfectly which is good to hear. i have a chip and some headers lined up so hopefully that will push it to 200 at the wheels.
my internet is capped at the moment so it's near impossible to upload the photos to photobucket or similar. so you'll have to put up with facebook links.

M3. the owner bought this car believing that it was 100% stock. when he put it on the dyno it pulled consistent runs at 198 rwkw. a standard M3 shouldn't put down more than 155-160 on a good day. so that was a nice surprise for him. he doesn't know what the mods are though :rofl

i have plenty of other pics, but this was all i was able to upload before my computer shat itself. my internet should reset in a couple of days so i'll post them then :)

What kind of dyno? I've never heard of the Jun BL muffler. How's it sound?
Looking forward to your numbers with the chip and headers.

it was a DynoLog dyno.
Jun BL are a japanese exhaust company. good quality products but not up to the same specs as Eisenmann or remus etc. it sounds a lot like the Eisenmann systems, but a little bit raspier. it'll do until i can afford the Eisenmann race system.
but that, the chip and headers won't be coming for at LEAST 6 months. need to save hard

That M3 shouldn't be too surprising - the euro-market E36s with either the S50 or S52 are rated at 210 and 236kw respectively.

Yeah, if it's a euro, it should throw down that much power stock.

they pop up on ebay every few months. i can't quite remember the name but i know they're a reputable company. i want to say supersprint but i don't think it is. chip is going to be a powerchip.
Automatic?
yes. the only manual E39s sold in Aus were M5s :(

correct. HSV senator. HSV = Holden Special Vehicles, so yes it's a Holden.
the Senator is the luxo version of the Clubsport R8 which is based on the VE commodore. GTO is pretty much just a coupé version of the commodore, which is the Monaro.

That is beautiful E34 in the pics. Just needs about 2 inches out of the front end to be perfect...:)
Of course I may be a bit biased. I still think set up right, they look better than the E39. I know, why am i here? I still love my Aspen Silver baby because it drives better then my E34 ever could.

+1. That E34 is hot! And I really like that the wheels are in check with the car's era.
Is it me or was that black car (not the HSV) dying in a cloud of smoke?

no. not pretty much a pontiac. it's a holden. pontiac took the VE commodore, made it ugly and then sold it as the G8. this is 100% Holden. also, as far as i know, the most powerful G8 you guys got was the G8 GT which i'm fairly sure was only an SS commodore with the 6.0 which made 270 kw and 530 Nm. that is the car that the HSVs are based on. but the HSV had a different front and rear end, completely different suspension with magnetic damping and flashed ECU. in standard form the HSV is 6.2 and makes 317 kw.

yeah the E34 is very sexy. it should be getting a drop soon. he also has some T-star covers for the wheels. it will look incredible when it's done. too bad it's only an auto 520 :(
yeah, the astra is a diesel :rofl

:nono You don't call an HSV a Pontiac without consequences from down under.
IMO rebranding the Holden's as Pontiacs was an insult.

Oh my god! Is that an auto 520i? How is that even possible? My old man has a manual 520i and that thing takes forever to get to 60mph. You can almost feel you hair growing faster. An auto would be slower than erosion. :eyecrazy
Was it dyno-ed? I know 520i's had less than 120hp stock. We also got E34 518i's here, but I've heard that the gears were short and high so it didn't feel as slow as the 520.

double post. my bad.
to be honest, it still wouldn't have been the least powerful car there. we needed numbers for the day to go ahead, so we invited a whole bunch of Opel guys. they all turned up in Barinas and Astras :rofl. i think there was one car that put down about 40 kw :rofl
there was a guy who turned up in a Fiesta XR4. from the factory they make 110kw at the fly. he was talking it up saying how it was going to surprise everyone and put down an easy 100kw to the wheels. on his best run, it pulled 54kw :rofl :rofl :rofl

FYI,
The most powerful Pontiac G8 we received in the States is/was the G8 GXP, which produced ~415 horsepower or ~310kw.

LOL luckily all most people see are the taillights.
I still believe from the right angle these look like they're gonna kick your ass! Sleeping dragon.
P.S., not a lick of sheetmetal on the nose, composite fenders, bumper and fiberglass hood.

Hi Matt535,
I don't know if you have gotten around to getting that chip and headers put in your 540 yet, just some info I thought you might like.
I just had my 1999 E39 540 Auto remapped with DimSport flash and tune.
The car had 186.1rwkw when it first went on with Eisenmann exhaust and y resonator replaced with straight resonator.
After Paul spent the day with it remapping fuel/air mixtures I ended up with 202.7rwkw
With very nice gains from 2.5k-5k which was exactly what I was after.
She is a little more thirsty now if you put your foot down, but well worth the money.
Just thought I would share my experience with you in regards to performance upgrade alternatives, as the difference is quite amazing.
Cheers.
