Please help? Are there any clear DIY's on this? It is a piece of wire thing that is not bend correctly, or that seems to be the problem. The wire acts as a spring to keep the flap closed. The flap just doesnt wanna stay closed, and it can make a very loud noise in the car.
2 out of 3 totaled E36 cars' flaps also seem to be broken. The other wants to much, will only sell me the whole flap.
I think some petrol attendant opened the flap further than he should have.:mad

Is this the part we're talking about?

Give the dealer that part number ... it should cost no more than a dollar or two (38 US cents online ... so however much they mark up the price, it should still be very cheap).

Is this a common problem on the E36?

Spray some WD-40 on the spring...open and close a few times...back to normal...

They say WD-40 fixes it, at least temporarily. Give the hinges and the spring a good cleaning and lubricate; it shall work fine after.

changed the bendy side to the bottom and added some lube. Think it is fine now, will see.
Thanx all
