I currently have a 328i sedan. I dunno know why...but I'm in the market for another Bimmer. Must be a glutton for maintenance needs and high costs but at the same time...great looks and spirited driving.

Anyway, I can get my hands on a fairly nice E30...had one of those...an E36 coupe...or maybe go bigger and get an E34.

Just wanted wanted some fellow BMdub lover opinions. I dunno if I want get rid of my current e36 or keep her since i've done TONS maintenance to her already. she got about 145k on the clock and runs like a champ.

I really like the coupe. The large door help with my large size. Evertime I get in the sedan version I hit my head. I also like the windows automatically cracking when I open the door.

I love the style of the coupe (98 is) but the door opening, automatic window cracking gets on my nerves, and it is very difficult to get your seatbelt on due to the level that tilts the seats forward and allows the rear passengers to get back there.

There is good room once you get back to the back seats, but it isn't easy for an adult to navigate back there.

overall, I really like the looks, and can deal with the idiosynchrocies.. sp?

It really depends on whether you need easy access to the back seat. If you don't, get a coupe -- no reason not to. If you do, get an E34. But do yourself a favor and get a well-maintained one. Otherwise you'll hate it, since it's an old car and the neglected-maintenance possibilities are endless!

Maintenance will be an issue with any "old car" like ours. Take proper care of your 328i and it will do you good. If your going to get another bimmer, make sure it has maintenance records, if not, I would just walk away.

I went from a 97 328i to an M3 coupe. I like having a coupe more, but I never have people in my backseat.

Also, if you park in a garage next to another car, be advised that the coupe doors are much longer and thus take much more room to open. It is a pain in the ass getting out of my car if I am parked close to another car.

2 door ftw. I had a guy ride in my e36's backseat all the way home from Miami, FL to New Hampshire and he said it was plenty comfortable back there.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll probably end up getting a coupe...e30 or e36. And mainetenance records are a huge plus of course. Off to the classifieds I go.
