Hi so it turns out that something is wrong with the computer on my car...the mechanics can't seem to figure it out but they said I need another e36 M so i could use there car to program my ecu and try putting it back in my car...I tried taking it to the dealers but they won't work on it because the title is rebuilt? I don't know what to do anymore....Is there anyone around the NYC region that is willing to take a look at my car or willing to let me use their car to program mine. There will be a cash incentive.

try the Tri-States regional section to find a local member. And your dealer is full of shit cause they won't work on your car cause of its rebuilt title.

I was going to say have them reflash your DME. Any shop with proper equipment should not need another car.

I had a strange thing happen with my old 325 one time - I turned the key to start it and didnt quite hold it long enough. The engine fired about once, made a backfiring sound, then blew a puff of smoke out from under the hood. Had it towed to a reputable shop who could not figure it out. Eventually they tried a reflash that cleared it right up.

That is incorrect. I have gotten keys on rebuilt BMWs more than once. They don't care whether it's rebuilt or not -- they just care whether you own the car legally.
