Check the wires where they plug in on each end.

This must be related to any of the wires. Check them out with a voltmeter when you're pressing the window down/up button... This helped me figure out my window rotor was fried.

You could check the two connecters that go into the motor while pressing on the switch and useing a volt meter

Sounds like a wire issue... and my money is on the jacket in the hinge. Very much like the issue with the trunk wiring in the hinge... all those years of open/close has frayed a wire.
The quickest thing to do is check continuity between the switch and the two plugs on the motor. Each wire is color coded and should be easy to match up and check.
Locate the rubber boot in the hinge of the door and pull it back as much as possible to expose all the wires inside. See if anything looks obvious. If not you're going to have to do a little disassembly. Remove the lower left kick panel and the panel under the steering column. Trace all the wires from the window motor to the firewall side of the door hinge and check for continuity.

you can check the motor by hooking it up to a 12 volt battery use wire to test it reverse the (+) and negative (-) each time to determine if put up and down work, more then likly the motor is no good and will need to be changed.

COuld it not just be the switch?

I had the exact same problem on the passenger rear door of my car - window would go down but not up. I swapped the switch with the other side and voila, everything works. So I just needed a new rocker switch.
