Hello, I've got a 94' 325 with a failed vanos unit, that is constantly now stuck in advanced mode, so I thought i'll drop in a donor 325 engine and rebuild the engine I have taken out.
I don't care how long it takes to complete this, I do not aim to have it completed in a week, I just want something to do when my partner starts "having a moment".
I don't want to swap for an M3 engine, otherwise I'd buy an M3, I don't want to supercharge or turbocharge this project either as it's not my cuppa. I don't want to stroke it as I like the way the 2.5 Rev's.
I want to extract what power I can from the M50B25TU. So far, I know I want to buy the stage 3 from VAC Motorsports.

I want to buy these camshafts,

Solid lifter conversion.
Custom Forged 86mm Pistons offering 12:0 Compression Ratio (99 Octane Fuel) Boring out the block slightly for better response.
Lightweight Forged 140mm Conrod's
Dr Vanos Stage 2 including the Vanos Limiter for the hotter cams.
Larger 21.5 lb injectors, higher flow fuel pump.
The intake manifold is going to have Evo ITB's on it and the Horsepower freaks induction manifold attached to it.
I am undecided about whether to get either the shorty headers or the longtube headers. This car will be used for DD, but my estimated powerband is between 3500rpm and 8500rpm.
There is going to be a 1 single 3" exhaust from manifold back, no cats, into a single backbox section at the rear.
I have already got a 6 speed E36 M3 Evo Gearbox, 12lb LTW Flywheel, Clutch, Propshaft, Subframe, Large Case 210mm 3.91 LSD and Polyurethane bushes holding it all together and the car is 250 lb lighter than standard.
I'm trying to estimate what power this engine will produce in total, which a live tune after it's all together I estimate that it will be making around 250-285 crank. Which is silly power from a 325 engine.
Any guesses to what it could make?
