Hey Guys,

This is more directed towards the Canadians, but I am wondering if you guys have had any success with having them ship directly to Canada WITHOUT the hassle of duties and crap. Basically my GF is in Florida and I was going to have the parts shipped to her and have her ship them too me, but I see that Pelican ships to Canada, so I am wondering if it is more economical to send them directly to me??

Any suggestions??

If you can get them to ship via the US Postal Service as opposed to UPS/FedEx or the like then you are relatively safe in avoiding customs clearance brokerage charges, duties and even GST/PST as in my experience Canada Post rarely bothers to collect these charges whereas the aforementioned couriers are avid to charge as the brokerage is a profit centre for them. I have not ordered from Pelican so I do not know if they will use the USPS or not. If not, have them ship by courier to your gal and have her ship the parts to you by the USPS.

Or order in Canada from :

http://www.bimmerspecialist.com/

or

http://www.autopartsway.ca

if their prices are competitive and avoid the whole mess.

I just opened my first order from Pelican. Well packaged and the prices for these items were competitive. Their website is better organized than bimmer specialist and it is faster ship time due to closeness. Time to put more new bits on my car.

USPS through Canada post is the best way, but I don't remember if my one order from PP was sent that way or UPS. UPS is the ultimate rip off for brokerage fees. In my experience Fedex ground charges the same rate as Canada Post, $10 (though CP has put charges on maybe 1 in 5 of my parces from outside Canada). I just got the bill for a Fedex parcel, total $30 for $150 worth of parts. A similar parcel through UPS would cost about $60 more.

Maximilian (http://www.bmwmobiletradition-online.com/) is excellent about shipping by USPS, though their shipping and handling charges can be high if you're buying a couple of inexpensive parts. You have to order by phone though, as the web-order system will ship UPS.

They shipped my order via USPS. Shipping price was fair, parts and service are great. Still had to pay taxes but not stupid 'brokerage fess' as with UPS/FedEx

Pelican shipped some parts for me to Australia through USPS. Competitive prices on both parts and shipping and arrived VERY fast!
