I had a problem with my M3 about a month ago with it not starting, and all clues pointed to the ignition switch being bad, but after buying a brand new one, it turned out to not be it. This isn't the original 1995 switch, it was replaced about 2 years ago. Will work in any E36, and possibly other bmw's. Direct plug and play, no wiring, super easy to replace. $50 firm since a new one is $90
