Been resprayed, and I'm afraid to ask how he knows it needs an oil pump?

Ebrake handle is no indicator of rear brake function. The rear brakes are operated by the calipers and pads on the rotor but the hand brake is a mechanical drum brake that is installed inside the rear rotor hat that creates a drum. Not to say that the cables for the rear hand brake does not need to be adjusted to allow the shoes to activate with a shorter pull on the handle.

Not saying this is the cause but I bought one about a year ago and was told it needed an oil pump. The owner had just replaced the oil pressure sensor but still had an intermitant oil warning light. I checked and the sensor had been recently replaced but it was with a cheap repalcement that did not allow the wire boot to settle properly; I replaced it with a proper sensor and had no more problems. His shop had done the sensor replacment and advised the r/r of the oil pump.

Ah, yes, that's a plausible explanation. I was stumbling on how to know it "needs a new oil pump" other than catastrophic failure. I almost forgot people still take their old cars to mechanics (and even take their word on diagnoses)!
