Other then disconnecting the battery to not set off air bag what else should I do? Any tips when doing it?

I believe you need torx 10 driver.I honestly dont remember but that sounds right,you could get the screws out with a smaller flathead if your carefull. Those screws are located behind the steering wheel. And you will need either a 15mm or 17mm socket with breaker bar.

It's a T27, you'll need a short extension. Remove the lower cover panel (a phillips screw). Once the airbag is off disconnect the connector under the lower trim panel before removing the wheel. Then it's just a matter of breaking loose the 17mm bolt. I've always managed to break them loose with my tiny 3/8 drive craftsman at the junkyard.
You'll also need to have the key for the ignition (or a means of turning the ignition to the on position). The wheel will be locked to the hub unless the ignition is at least at the #1 position.

I pulled a wheel of a junk car yesterday without it. The car was in deadbolt as well, the yard never had a key; and I got all the door panels out. Anything is possible. Easier, yes. Necessary, no.
