This is my interior:

All of the interior bits were replaced with parts from a 540i sport, including the door panels and wood trim.

The wood trim that covers the car can be seen on one of the door panels:

However, take a look at the first picture and you will see that the wood trim in front of the passenger seat does not match. I assume this is because the 540i sport had a passenger side air bag which was a different configuration.

This mis-match in wood trim annoys me. I would like to replace the two passenger side pieces to match the rest of the car.

So,

What color/type of wood trim is it that I have on the door panel?

Was this trim color available to fit my car (build date 7/89)?

Gurus, please school me.:redspot

Kinda hard to see the exact grain of the trim you want to match in those pics.

Did you get that interior out of a 540/6 or a 540 M-Sport? The M-Sport had burl walnut wood trim. Not sure what the 540/6 had.

The passenger side airbag in the later cars is in top of the dash. Don't think it effected the wood trim on the glovebox & next to the glovebox at all. So should be a straight swap.

That a Dinan gauge cluster? Or a different one?

Nothing to do with the airbag. There were a couple of different wood trim styles used in US production E34s. The early stuff is bubinga, matte or glossy, and the late stuff is usually nussbaum. The glove box trim is period correct for the car. Find a late glove box (or any glove box from a 540 should have it). FWIW, bubinga seems to be more resilient. I see a lot of color washed nussbaum, not so much the case with bubinga.

Yes, it is nussbaum. To be sure, check this: Das Original BMW Zubehör 1994 (http://http//rhantos.fw.hu/) page 27. Also there are pictures of rims and interior extras, that were available in 94 BMW-s.

I have a few extra pieces of trim laying around. Your mire than welcome to come see if they match. If they do, you can have them gratis.

Thanks for all the information guys. I'm not 100% sure what car the interior came out of as it was the previous owner who completed the swap. All he told me was the pieces from the donor car did not match (he also left me with a drivers seat with no power functions:mad)

According to the link provided, it looks like its nussbaum, but I have a question that may answer which car the interior came from. Did the 540i/6 come with sport seats? Or was the exclusive to the M-sport?

The Gauge panel is custom, something I made when I was bored.

Porschedude, I really appreciate the offer. I'll PM you later today and maybe I can stop by this weekend.

The 540i/6 had sport seats as did the M-Sport & M5.
