speedo needle reinstall

I had the speedo nedle off on my car and not put it on at a point t hat I thought was right, but it is reading way low. Is their a sure fire way to connect the thing and have it right? Thanks, Nick

I believe that there is an "at rest" mark that is visible when the speedo is removed from the housing. You can then rotate the needle against either stop to set the needle to the reference mark.
