I recently got the opportunity to work basically as an apprentice for a BMW enthusiast. To save the trouble of a long story, he bought an 89 BMW 325i Coupe for $500 (it threw a rod and has no oil pressure). The car has 250k miles, but aside from that is it excellent condition for being that old. The restoration process began today with removal of the head so it can go to the shop to be bead blasted, cleaned, etc. He happens to have another 6cyl. 2.5liter m20 engine on hand that only has 150k miles (only the short block, no head).

This vehicle is going to be mine after the restoration process is complete so I am really looking forward to learning everything I can about these great cars (hence joining this forum:D:D). I want to start coming up with some paint schemes for the car but don't know the best way to go about doing it. Are there any programs out there where I can visualize and customize various colors layouts of this particular model? Something like what you do in every car game like Need For Speed :stickoutt

Tomorrow I will try to get some pictures of the car to so I can post them up!

BRONZIT

Haha but seriously, I would go with black. Red looks great but it's a bit played out. There's something about the contrast between the black and the white of the headlights that looks awesome (see sig :))

I love black, but my boss is insisting on a stand out color and I do agree red is way overplayed. My next choice is the BMW electric blue with chrome accents.

I'm mostly curious about different ways to do the chrome layout and maybe even some black accents, but I don't know how they would look exactly so I want to have something to play around with. I can't draw worth crap so I threw that idea out the window a long time ago. I need computer assistance :)

Check out this blue/black scheme

If you are going to stray from historically correct E30 colors, Electric Blue, Techno Violet, or even Dakar Yellow would be "stand out colors".

I've seen some orange E30's that looked pretty sick...

This wheels on this are not my preference, I don't like the white and they are just a tad too big but the rest of the car is beautiful!!

The paint is a gold/grayish color. It's actually in great condition too except for the trunk/spoiler where it's flaking off like crazy.

My dads friend in Florida, took his 2002 and put a cross Porsche Orange. And I tell you, that color in person. Amazed me every time I saw it.
I'm personally the typical blacked out, with the m colors on the front right of the hood.

Have fun with your ideas!
