I apologize for the pointless thread but am just absolutely angry! Yesterday, second day of college, I park at one of the nicer student parking lots and still someone had to do something. I parked in the morning and I knew had them on then because you all know the last final turn at your car when your walking away so I know. Well four hours later I go to my car to get something and my kidney grills are gone. I had those aftermarket, yet oem looking, black kidney grills and they were great! Oh and did I fail to mention that I sold my original chrome grills a while back so now I have nothing and it looks horrible. Oh well thats life I guess.

That sucks. I haven't had too much experience with my car getting messed with at college. Someone shot out the tail light on one of my subarus, thats about it. It sucks to not be sure if your car will get messed with.

Why would someone steal the kidney off of the car? What would they do with them?

Am thinking its someone who has an e30 too and theirs is so old and probably all the chrome is peeled off and they saw my black ones so. I don't know thats what am thinking because theirs a few e30's around my city that are all beat up and are owned by up to no good people.

Is it possible to steal it without opening the hood? What town were you in? so I can avoid that place?

only if the clips that are supposed to be there are missing. Otherwise you'll break something.

someone stole the beat up ass grill on my e28, i ended up getting one that was in like new condition as a replacement....the stupid thing is they broke the clips since you have to have to hood up to get it off properly.

yes thats the upsetting thing I was missing one of the clips for a long time until I finally had a friend who had some extras give me a few. And this was not even a month ago.
I live in the southern tip of Texas, Brownsville.

Just be glad that's all that was taken. I worry everyday that the local ricers will find out that e30 rims are 4x100 :(

yea thats very true but than again my alarm in my car is so sensitive that just a tap on the body will set off the warning horn chirps so I think it would be hard to do that inconspicuously.

Sell them on the black market of course!

Isn't that what happens when people get kidneys stolen? :rolleyes

... Imagine an E30 waking up in a bathtub of ice after spending an evening with a shady hooker.

Seriously though. That really sucks.

You should come up here to MN, my buddy used to leave his M3 parked on the street all night on-campus and never had any problems! :)

just walk around campus look for e30s with missing or chrome grills then check them out a week later and see if any black griils show up.

Thats exactly what am going to do next week. I want to find them and confront the guy. Luckily I have my mechanic, also personal friend of mine.,who help me rebuild my engine and had some stock kidneys laying around to lend me until I order my black ones again this weekend. So it won't look hideous anymore.

Thats the problem with E30s, its so easy to open the hood. Ive been tempted to open an E30s hood to see if it was a 318 or 325 at my community college a few years ago. Never did though.

You can open the hood using a screwdriver? I have to learn that trick so the next time my hood release doesn't work I can get the hood open!

Sorry to hear about the kidneys - surprised someone didn't notice someone messing with your car in the parking lot!

there's a little hole in the grill left to the drivers side high beam (iirc). You can reach in there with a long screwdriver and then you just have to turn it and the hood will pop right up

Yea am surprised no campus police around I guess. As for Hallca, thanks for the offer but am going to order the black ones again this weekend and my friend loaned me some chrome ones for now.

That's why we all know how to do it, lol. But seriously, I never thought of the shenanigans one could commit on the e30 community with that little bit of knowledge.
