the k1's are off an e36 with a center bore of 72.6 on the wheel. from the little research i've done the e28 has the same center bore. but i just want to make sure that this will be a good fit before i trade wheels. I'm running a hub centric ring (not sure the size) on my 533 now with bbs rs 090's (style 5's). Will i have to run the same hub centric ring on my car if i have the kosei's on? thanks for the help in advance.

Since the center bore is the same as for a 3-series, you should not need a hubcentric ring. You will however need to run spacers. The offset of 17"x8.5" Kosei K1s are ET40 and the offset for E28 are about ET20-ET22 for a 6.5" rim. To get a stock wheel gaps, you'd have to run a 7mm spacer. You're likely going to want to space them out more, so you'd want a wider spacer than 7mm. You might have problems if the struts get in the way, this would require to run an even wider spacer.
