hey-

just picked up a blower bracket for a e36, can anyone ID the make of it?

Im guessing paxton/vortech compatibility? Am i missing the top bracket to vanos area (ala dinan style)?

all help is appreciated!

The bolt pattern looks like it is for a Powerdyne head unit. My car had a Powerdyne SC on it when I bought it, and the bracket looked very similar to yours. The pulley adjustment was a little different but designs change over time.

FYI: Powerdyne superchargers are mediocre at best. They are OK if you keep boost low (6/7 lbs), and are capable of making close to 300 whp. Don't expect much more than that unless you can find an XB1A gear driven unit(which are hard to find). If you are on an entry level budget, follow through with the Powerdyne, but plan on changing over to a Vortech (RMS brackets) soon as boost/power will become addictive.

I've gone from Powerdyne (245whp) to Vortech (338whp) to Turbo (532whp) and still want more....... just saying !!!!!

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions..... BTW.. I still have my Powerdyne SC that I would like to sell.

Edit: Yes, you are missing the arm that bolts from the vanos, over to the top three bolt holes on your bracket. I would guess that your bracket was designed by either ESS or Dinan.

it's not for a vortech

You could make one of those cross arms -- it goes straight across with a slight kink in it to the Vanos top bolt on the front/side of the head. Not sure it is worth running a Powerdyne, but if the car is a beater and you are trying to put together a low buck system, you could probably run just an FMU for fuel with low boost. I had a Powerdyne also several years ago before moving on to a Vortech (different brackets). Now I am thinking about moving on to a turbo, though I made 463 rwhp with the Vortech and am now making a little more than that.

- I love boost.

The car is actually quite clean, I was looking up the modern powerdyne units, but they are not found that easily.

The car gets alot of track use (6 hpde since august) and would really need Na style reliabilty- turbo fitament on e36 chassis honestly frightens me- id pop in the mk4 supra motor hanging out on the stand if it was down to turbocharging the s52

My previous powerplant was 2jzgte- I still have it sitting on the engine stand from it's last home- I love boost.

Perhaps I need to wait it out for an aa hks setup
