horrible squeal

i have a horrible squeal at idol and below 3k rpms and i forgot exactly wut this commonly is, any help? maybe a belt loose or something ?

Yea if this is still the M20 check to make sure your belts are tight. If so, you've possibly got something dying. Alt or wp.

Definitely a belt, check for glazing (shiny spots on the underside). They could be worn or just loose...or one of the accessories is locking up. Also check to see if the pulleys wobble.

As he said. It's probably a belt. My VW does this all the time due to loose-belt-issues, which is in turn due to tensioner issues.

If its not a belt check your fan clutch. Mine squeals like a pig, til the engine warms up that is. Also check fluid level in the power steering pump, they will squeal as well if fluid is low.
