Hey guys 1st I searched
Quick question is: I found some hella ellips that I want to swap with my nfl free forms. I know the connectors are different but will the ellips fit in the free form housings or do I need to swap housings as well? I know on the e30's the housings and adjusters are totally different for ellips vs sealed beams.

Shouldn't have to swap the housings. They should fit.

Panels are the same for all e34's including E-code smileys. Plugs should be the same for all US spec as they all used 9005/9006's regardless of FF or Elips. Have adjuster clips on hand as those are prone to breaking if you will be swapping Elips to your existing panels. Use a little WD or something similar to install the adjuster cups. You'll have more fun getting to the lamps than anything else... not as easy as the e30s.

+1 it's definitely not as easy as an e30 headlight swap, but it's pretty straight forward.

Yeah it's a pita because of the way the front of the E34 is put together. But everything is indeed plug and play. I just did it last month and had the entire front of the car disassembled -- that part only took about 15 minutes though lol.

Yeah I know what you mean by the pita to take out. I sprayed my grills and kidneys a few weeks ago and saw how hard some of the bolts are to access. Def not as user friendly as the e30. Thanks for the info.

You're right. When you get everything off it looks like the car has been hit by a train, but it's only a few minutes of work to put it back together.

Actually going to do this sunday. Going to swap my drivers high beam lens onto the new sets passenger high because the lens on the set I am getting is destroyed. Will I need anything other than the assemblies to complete this?

Crazy, you will want to have some of the adjuster clips handy. They are prone to breakage. When installing the new ones use a little WD40 and they'll pop right on.
